Whose Righteousness Do You Walk In?
(A Revelation Of The Blood)

Submitted by Clay Sikes

God often gives us gauges to determine certain elements of our makeup. He grants us ways, by revelation of His Spirit, to determine aspects of our character that we need to judge and deal with in order that He will not have to. Two recent conflicts in my life, which created extreme anger with two separate individuals, sent me to the Father, and though I felt justified at the time, while in His presence the following was revealed to me. It ministered to me greatly and I pray it will do the same for you.

Circumstances often reveal what is in us – Are we easily offended? Do what people say and do hurt us? If the answer to one or both of those questions is yes, we should begin asking ourselves some serious questions about righteousness; there are two types, self-righteousness and the righteousness obtained for us by the blood of Jesus. According to the Word, our righteousness is “as filthy rags” in the site of God because its source is pride and pride’s father is the devil. Said differently, self-righteousness is a demonic quality, or, said more direct, self-righteousness is demonic.

When we feel we must fight and contend for position in a particular thing, unless God has charged us with the responsibility of that position, we fight and contend from the arena of pride and reason. Pride and reason emanate from the root of self-righteousness and self-righteousness hides itself in our soul (mind, will, and emotions).

The righteousness that was obtained for us by the blood of Jesus needs no defending because it has nothing to do with us, and everything to do with Him and the blood shed on our behalf. If we know we are made righteous by the blood of Jesus, we need not grasp for position or even defend ourselves much less allow ourselves to be hurt or offended by others – to do so is to allow the circumstances to reveal the pride produced by our own self-righteousness. OFTEN OUR HURT FEELINGS ARE NO MORE THAN A REVELATION OF OUR DEEP PRIDE AND ARROGANCE. Arrogance by definition is high-mindedness and thinking more highly of ourselves than we should. Paul said there was no good thing in him except what was obtained for him by the blood, Christ and Him crucified.

It is hard to be high-minded with a revelation of the blood. The blood bought our righteousness or right standing with God. The blood defends us, protects us, provides for us, anoints us and delivers us; therefore, we don’t have to. A revelation of the blood assists us greatly in making the transition from being led by our emotions or soul to being led of the Spirit.

In summary, unless God appoints us to stand up to or defend a thing, our position should be, I will let the blood cover this, or, the blood will take care of this situation. By conscientiously, and as an act of our will, putting ourselves under the blood, releasing everything to God and ceasing from our own works and acts of self-righteousness, we will automatically place ourselves into the righteousness or right standing with God which will allow us to come boldly into the throne of grace and find mercy and grace in our time of need.

Anger, hurt feelings, resentment and the need to retaliate are all gauges (signs) to us to look inward and recognize that His blood protects us, therefore we have no need to feel contentious.

To the extent or measure we walk by the revelation of blood, to that extent it will be measured back unto us. Self-righteous acts deny the power of the blood to be released in its intended fullness. Let go and let the blood do its work!
